I work for the power co. In peco as a line man. The wire he must of grabbed was either tel co or cable lines. Even with a TAC stick a tac stick reads ambiant votlage. I can tell how thick the wire bundle is. Power lines are wrapped up in clear or thin black cladding depending on what the voltages are

rubber grip on the handle a sheet around the wire = no ground witch means no shock
-
my head hurts watching this... let the power company move THEIR lines

@kunzy04 Fiberglass pole hes good

Gotta do what ya gotta do to get the truck in. I'm sure if that was your house on fire you wouldn't be bitching about this issue.

Funny how no one even realizes this wire is only a single "Drop" and carries a maximum of 120 volts to earth ground (240 between the black wires). Since he IS WEARING GLOVES the 120 volts is not going to hit him at all. Stop all the DRAMA and get your facts straight.While I DONT condone grabbing unknown wires,when you look up and see a 120/240 volt local distro.. its not as dangerous as you seem to think....
You can tell this is NOT a 5KV/6KV/11KV circuit,they do not twist those with a bare wire
-
two questions, #1, How do you know the wire was live? did you check it yourself?
#2, Do you know what happens when an electric wire like this one falls down and its a source to eject its power?
-
Sad thing is, it was probably an officer that told him to do it.
-
@OceanCitySurfReport Doesn't have to be to kill you!
-
Its not a bare wire...
-
he would not be in my dept.
-
As a Chief Officer this pisses me off to know end. Come on people use your head once in awhile. This makes us look real good. Maybe a little bit more training before he rides the truck again!!!!
-
And they let this guy put an air pack on and fight fire???? Whoever his Chief is should really sit this guy down and maybe send him back to basic. Unreal...
@harleybum Once again-RISK bs BENEFIT.
Why risk the possibility of something going wrong?

This is going to be a huge problem in this county, All these stroke jobs who want to go see what the other departments are doing and pick them apart on their own fires. Every time theres a fire, At least 5 people want to come take pictures of videos then post them all over for the public to get on their own personnel sites. PROBLEM is now its free game for lawyers and insurance adjusters to use. Either to screw the homeowner or the dept for something, We are here to help each other, Not hinder.

@backwardsET (uploader) Or how about the lawyer using this video to sue the person that ordered this guy to move the powerline when he gets zapped????? But he was told it was dead, so its all good. Sometimes a little common sense prevails.

Sad thing is you guys do not know what went on at this fire nor the hand job that made this recording. On the other side of the fence an electrician checked the power lines with a tac stick and they were not hot but lets all jump to conclusions like the person who recorded this video.

Wasn't aware you knew me Chris? Thats because you don't. By the way, I welcome the opportunity to get caught doing something this stupid.
