It's obvious why they hired him to announce. He's a good student of the game and cogent. His praise of Agassi early on put Agassi on the map. He said Agassi had the best service return game he's ever faced, so good "I never saw the ball" one time. Then everyone wrote about Agassi, even though he lost 6-3, 6-3 to Mac in their first match up, I think.

Watta bout Conners. Mac and Andre deserve your praise, but watta bout Conners? Mac said that he was the best returner he'd played until Andre. Mac doesn't say that Andre was better than Connors on the return, but he DID say that Andre got the advantage of being so dominate on the return because of the development of the modern racquet. Jimmy played with the T-2000. The sweet spot on the T-2000 is just about a 1/2 inch bigger in circumference than the tennis ball! Absolutely NO margin for error!
