this one is very much about the songwriting....
i have a friend called bp fallon who worked for the beatles...t-rex...led zepellin..a beautiful soul who is now in his sixties....he is now a world class radio presenter and rock n roll photographer..anyway...one night i went to see a band play, and there was bp fallon...slippin and a sliding all over the place takin photos of the band on stage....i was more interested in him than the actual band....he was the one with the most rock n roll spirit..he's been around for all the golden decades of rock n roll..and just watching him from the audience taking his photographs, triggered me to write this song ...the black and white still that come and go throughout the clip are his photographs ..and all the boogalooo of me doing my ironing in the snow at the back of a mansion is because i watched too many luis bunuel films..he was a surrealist..the white mansion is a nod and a wink to john lennons british 'imagine' era.

if youre interested,bp fallon does a great internet radio show called wang dang doodle ,and you can find it on www.breakthruradio.com just click around the deejay list..he's right at the top of it.

  • What a terrific song! Gentle and yet there's all this Other Thing I'd have to call Intelligence--so this is called "Getting In and Out of Cars"... Great title.

Man, this is simply gorgeous. Cinq etoiles, as the French say!

  • thanks roy....i'm glad you like it....it's called 'rock n roll photographer'....as you can see .

  • I'm sorry. It's a stunning piece. And for some reason I thought the video was a separate presentation of a song of yours from sometime back and, therefore, warranted a different title--this is an older song, is it not? Sorry, sorry, sorry--the fact remains this is gorgeous work.

  • you've got nothing to be sorry for Roy...im very grateful for your kind words ...it's very encouraging for a songwriter.,.its every songwriters dream to have the feedback that you've just given me...so dont you feel sorry about anything....loads of love to you.

  • I love this.....even has a Lou Reed feel to it...awesome friend!!

  • thanks gary.....i was breast fed on lou reed....him and bowie...and glen campbell....the monkees..niel diamond.....creedence..small faces...leonard cohen john lennon...bobby dylan..kinks..the who....jim reeves..val doonican...petula clarke...early cilla black..we are lucky for the decades we were born into

  • well, i looked at some of the influences on these posts and in the tune,, jimmy webb, etc, my epiphany came at 3:00, man no one sounds like you. original is such an overused term. this is wonderful time capsule stuff.

  • Wow. I love it. I thought of Gage, Reed, and the memorial concert they gave for Andy Warhol.

I love your writing, you break rules to wonderful effect. It takes serious chops to pull that off the way you do.

  • This is great song writting! the kind that you dont come across very often but when you do it makes your day! Thanks!!!!

  • Sitting here bored this morning. Nothing new to inspire me. what to do?...Ah, go back over mary's videos. this and 'If you could see me now' and I feel refreshed......works every time :))

  • I do a bit of songwriting myself, but not like you. This is among the 10 Best Songs I've Heard in the Last Year... my little mental filing system.

My hat's off to you... damn.

Sending you some Florida sunshine and warmth because your song, on second and third hearing, sent chills up my spine!

And I've heard a shitload of music in my time... I'll stop.

    Be well.

    Roy
