Silk Road Project: Night at the Caravanserai

"Night at the Caravanserai: Tales of Wonder" was a performance at SummerStage in Central Park featuring 250 sixth-graders from New York City public schools, the Silk Road Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma, The Knights, Bill Irwin, Bobby McFerrin, Charles "Lil Buck" Riley, Jhumpa Lahiri, Marcus Printup, Riza Hequibal-Printup and Emalie Savoy.

This performance celebrated Silk Road Connect, an arts-integration program that the Silk Road Project piloted in New York City middle schools in Brooklyn, the Bronx, Harlem and Queens. Throughout the school year, teaching artists visited students to help them make connections between their lives and what they were learning.
