Humanitarian aid trickles into Gaza - 26 Jan 09

Egypt has been quick to help send aid into Gaza, but rigorous controls imposed by officials at the Israeli-controlled Ouja crossing have held up food aid intended for the Palestinians.

Al Jazeera's Rawya Rageh reports from Egypt on the painstakingly slow process of getting humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Why, why does Israel insist on making things worse and worse for the Palestinians? What did they do to deserve being starved en masse? What happened to the Israel that fled captivity and genocide in search of freedom and a land to call their own? All this makes me very sad and ashamed as a man of partial Israeli descent. The most common Jewish blessing is shalom, but how can there be peace when Israel acts in such a way. Mercy and justice are the only way to turn away hatred and bring peace.
