That's interresting. Wish I had the luck to see the innards while being worked on. The ESB manual isn't that small. It's about the same size as a traditional 2500lb (1000kg) elevator, with manual center-open external doors (scissorgate inner).

It is maintained very well, about a month ago people had the car doors open so you could se the top of the lifts and they were doing some of the wiring or something
. I have never been to the Empire state building before. I would love to ride that small lift you mentioned there :)

Provided the maintanence is kept up, otherwise, neither are all too good.
Oldest one I rode is a 1931 Otis, manual operated, in the Empire State Building (86-102). Ran great. Too bad I was there LONG before small video camcorders, and YouTube. :)

Haha, me too, especialy the old hydraulic ones becaus they have nice interesting characteristic and sounds.

If they are doing wiring etc this may suggest t6hey are going to upgrade those elevators as they may not be DDA Act compliant so they may well be forced to upgrade it due to being legally liable at present.

These lifts work just fine :) However they are liable but kept up the maintenance they will do fine. Thanks for the comment :)
