Roger Morneau's faith was so strong because he knew the EXACT OPPOSITE of Christianity when he was involved in the occult. He knew if he stood on that road he would eventually suffer from it. So he chose Christianity because it's what the satanists and spirit worshippers were the MOST afraid of.

But security in this faith depends on strength of god: If Satan and God are equal, neither god is able to damn another's followers. But if one is Creator of the other, certain perks exist, including judgment of the other and his followers

Even in Satanism, Lucifer's subjection to punishment by God is documented (but considered grossly unfair to 'good' Lucifer) No such subjection is seen in the other direction.
