A brief look at Rigby Road depot in 1991, note the rotary washing brushes on the approach tracks (now gone), the fleet of illuminated cars (most of which are now gone) and the preponderance of trolley poles (now mostly replaced by pantographs).

  • does he ahve any inside footage

  • things do not really change as you could get a similar picture if walk walk in a and took one today

  • lol, my dad works at this depot

  • It's expensive to properly maintain overhead suitable for trolley poles, and Blackpool Transport like to do things on the cheap. Because of this the few such trams remaining are prone to dewiring. The open toppers have kept their poles due to middle mounted pantographs showering passengers with greasy muck from the overhead. The trolley poles clear the rear of the trams and avoid this.

  • Always went to Blackpool when in Britain, I particulary like the balloon trams.

  • Why the change to pantographs??..never found out why..

  • cant beat the old trams
