Great job with the colorizing. I often imagined what the original 1958 Mr. Clean commercial would have looked like in color. I loved that jingle as well.

I wish they'd bring back cigarette commercials (that's not implying I smoke). As George Carlin once said "Children don't smoke because a camel in sunglasses told them to, they do it because they chose to."

I like to sing this song when I am smoking my Winstons. Video coulda done without the jazzy music for the annotations tbh.

That's bullshit that smoking is addictive. I've been smoking since 1973 and I never got addicted to it.

damn... i need a cigarette now :)

@Linescrew1 The only thing missing from your restored version is the gold stripes on the pack (at the top and bottom of the white "brand name" section). Otherwise, this is incredible to see. This ad is circa mid-1950s, and was still occasionally being aired as recently as 1964. This ad is available on the DVD "Television's Greatest Commercials", put out a few years ago by Madacy Home Entertainment. You may find other inspiration there as well. Again, incredible job!

It looks to me that this is probably from about 1960. It think this brand came out in the mid 1950's. I am looking for the Winston ad that shows a commuter train along the Hudson from about this same time. Can anyone help? Nice color. Interesting posting.
Winston was introduced in 1954- this ad was first seen in 1955. If they had filmed it in color, this is probably what it would have looked like...

@fromthesidelines Thanks for the info. The original commercial (but not the trade mark) is now in the public domain and there was some conflicting info on when the original was produced when I color restored this commercial a few years ago. 1954-55 sounds right. Thanks for the post. I will change the details of the video to reflect this. Cheers from Vancouver.

I`ve never seen the commercial you are refering to. If I find it, I`ll let you know. I`m always looking for new public domain material to archive and/or restore. Thanks for the comments. Cheers.
