Neil Robinson originally hails from Vancouver, Canada but has called Amsterdam home for the past year. Always looking for a laugh, he has found the lonely stage in a comedy club fits his style best. He has built his comedic philosophy on the idea that if he can make just one grumpy person laugh when on stage, make just one sad person smile for even just a moment, then he's a pretty terrible comic and should be booed off stage. Luckily this has not happened yet as Dutch audiences seem to always find his humor sharp, witty and always funny, especially because Neil is writing this biography.
After traveling the world for almost 2 years, Neil settled down in Amsterdam for a relaxing summer in the land of clogs, cheese, and tulips but quickly realized that this is a place he could call home for a lot longer. Soon after his arrival, Neil began observing some weird and scary Dutch traditions and it made him realize that he should bring these observations to the stage because it's the only way he can get people to listen to him. Traditions like the old creepy white guy with a beard and small black friends coming in on a boat from Spain in November seemed a little strange, as did the thousands of really happy but really naked men dancing on boats in July, and that little day at the end of April where the celebration of a Royal birthday takes the form of the Dutch gettin' drunk and selling their crap.
Performing in front of Dutch crowds has always been a joy for Neil, whether it be on stage doing improv through the group, Easy Laughs; on the street with the improv group he co-founded, Streetprov; or behind the microphone doing comedy in its purest form, stand-up.
As a finalist in the Sonnema Comedy Tour, Neil traveled to and performed in cities throughout country and realized that his humor was well received everywhere, from Amsterdam to Rotterdam to Nijmegan to Urk..... well not so much Urk. Turns out they're not huge fans of the Jesus jokes....
In any case, the only thing that Neil loves more than gathering new observations and opinions about the easy-going life here in the Netherlands is sharing those observations and opinions with the Netherlanders!
