Just, no. So you don't think there's any resemblance between the ring, which embodies evil, hatred, and destruction, and the problems of racism, poverty, and war? You must not really spend much time thinking. The Eagle's didn't save the day because life just isn't that easy. Calling it a hole in the story may make you feel good about your powerfully discriminating literary skills, but you can't really explain why the Eagles should have been there either.

There ending would of course never fit the real world of Middle Earth, because not even the combined might of the eagles would be able to enter Mordor against the power of the sleepless Eye of Sauron and his nine Nazgul. Plus the Eagles hardly take orders from anyone else.
