Awesome. Much better than the studio veesion. Tull are often much better live than in the studio, Martin Barre really shines. Aqualung allbum is closest to the live feel.

Even though there are a couple overdubbed tracks on this recording, there are still more live parts than prerecorded parts and it's still absolutely amazing that they can even pull off a song as complicated as this live. Tull is incredible!

This one, along with the other 3 on my channel, were used for the BBC session but not recorded in the BBC studios. They were recorded in Monte Carlo, Monaco, while they were making the LP. You're right about the overdubs. Have a listen to Minstrel In The Gallery if you haven't already. It's mostly the parts that were used for the LP version but includes quite a few bits that were taken out and overdubbed.

You're right. The original live studio performance was over-dubbed with extra tracks (flute, acoustic guitar, etc.) But Ian's vocals, Martin's guitar, drums, bass, etc. were done live in the BBC studio.

It's pseudo live "crack wind clatter" flute is happening at same time of vocal. There are two acoustic guitars. Barre could not change to electric that quick. Certain pre-recorded things are running in this. It's still great though. The keyboards are definitely not playing what is on the final record either.

Tull are, in my opinion, always better live, than in the studio. And in this case, live in a studio.
