The wheels would be caster wheels, sorry should have pointed that out.

If this idea is no good, I take it a metal frame is better than a plastic frame as I am deciding between the cyclops aluminium and an elite arion parabolic roller.
Thanks again for your reply.

Thanks very much for the replies, will keep this in mind
I had an idea myself, how about a flat peice of rectangle wood that is bigger than the roller
Screw eight wheels to the underside of wood and fit this peice of wood into the frame that you have on the floor
Attach bungie grips to keep the wood in the frame
Then find away to just place the roller on top of the flat peice of wood but have an easy way to secure rollers to the wood
This way you could use any roller without drilling the frame.

Hi daggodog, first of all can I say that your home made version of the motion rollers are first class.
If you don't mind I am going to copy your idea.
From looking at your video I take it the rollers are CycleOps Aluminium Rollers, I just want to double check this before I buy them?
Would it be a better idea to get a fixed frame rather than folding?
Is there anything that you have changed from when you posted the video or is there anything else you think the you should have done?

Nice, but your seat is too high.

Nice design !
Thanks for saying that!
I wish I had made a more detailed video
Ok
Drill holes, yes! Start with small drill bits and go bigger. I used 1/4 inch threaded bolts and some washers that are the size of the bearings in the wheels so they don't rub against the sides
I built the wheels first then the I took the wood with the side rails and placed the up against the wheels so I could get the exact size, Then I put in the cross pieces
They are Cycleops ! I change the bungies a couple times a year

Sorry for all the questions, just one more.
When you take the rubber feet of the rollers are there all ready pre drilled holes for the wheels or did you have to do this yourself?
I am not that technical minded but I think I should be able to do this.
Thanks again for posting your video

Great Job, I would have to say that is one of the smoothest DIY free motion rollers I've seen!
If don't mind sharing, could you tell me what exactly what materials you used and the rough cost? I would love to do the same with mine, and love your design.

@fuzzjunk7 Thanks a lot! Just a bit of history; I would't have thought to make these until I went to the FreeMotion website and on t he page telling people that they have a patent on floating rollers and that If you make them at home you are violating patent infringement laws and blah blah blah. Like they were Apple or something. So I said "wow people are making these"! So I did some research and everything I saw was great, but I figured there would be away to strip this down.

@fuzzjunk7 What Kind of rollers do you have? Ill post the exact way I made them.
I sent that video to the Freemotion clowns too. I wouldn'thave thought to make them until I saw on their website that they were forbidding it.
They really are so sweet and fluid. Im sure the freemotion ones are better. But not by much at all.
