This is the pibroch, 'The Red Speckled Bull', played on a replica of the medieval Scottish Queen Mary clarsach. It's not a proper performance, I have only been playing this tune for a couple of days. The tune is attributed to the early 18th century harper, piper and fiddler, Raghnall MacAilein Òig, aka Ronald MacDonald of Morar (1662 - 1741). More details on my blog at http://earlyclarsach.blogspot.com/2012/01/tarbh-breac-dearg.html

  • What a great rendition. I am a piper myself, and this is one of my favorite piobaireachds. It is wonderful to get to hear an interpretation on a different instrument like this.

  • @ebmcclam Thanks for your comment, great to hear a piper's view on this.

  • Lovely tune! I realy like your wire, what kind is it?

  • @Hildegard71 Glad you like it Hildegard. This harp has brass wire in the treble (extra hard-drawn), sterling silver in the mid-range and 18 carat gold in the bass.

  • Beautiful song! I love the pacing.

  • @dorveillepeg Thanks Peg, glad you like it!
