This video shows just how close the helicopter was to the power lines as it was trimming the trees. You can see the pilot looking down from his seat through the side bubble canopy on the helicopter. There is also a great up close shot of the 10 bladed trimmer cutting through the trees. After I walked down the street to show how close he was to the power lines, the support crew showed up in their vehicle checking the cuts. The winds were blowing between 3 to 10mph and was a bit gusty. What a dangerous job. It was very impressive to watch.
had to head back to refuel. I was talking with the gentlemen down on the ground who had been following the helicopter and were in contact with the pilot via radio. He had about 5 minutes left before refueling when they arrived. They asked what was over the hill and so I pulled out my iPhone and pulled up Google Earth to show them. They only had a street map from drawings with no satellite photos. So, I warned them about the dogs as well since they were in an open top tractor. I walked down the street to show how close the pilot was hovering next to the power lines.
I thought I had a nice chain saw.....
