"Now this punch drunk grinning soul, in it's corner begs no more."

Lyrics made more haunting by Flogging Molly's new music video for their single, "Punch Drunk Grinning Soul". Originally penned as an allegorical biography about a young man who unexpectedly committed suicide, the video takes the theme one step further and applies it to a malady faced by millions of people the world over post traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. The video begins with a public service announcement for PTSD narrated by singer Dave King and Mike Regan, a distinguished Vietnam war veteran and the father of the band's fiddle player Bridget Regan . According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 7.7 million American adults suffer from PTSD, a psychiatric disorder that can occur following exposure to life-threatening events such as military combat, serious accidents, or violent personal assaults like rape. People who suffer from PTSD often relive the experience through nightmares and flashbacks and detach or estrange themselves from friends and family.

  • @THExxPALExxRIDER Ok, how about this? We stop arguing over this stupid stuff and just listen to this good music k? If you can't just do that then, well, you need better things to fill your time with.

  • @THExxPALExxRIDER Or Canada where its very much like America without the macho posturing, or Australia the most awesome island in ever. Yeah its true there are plenty of places that are worse then us but we are not The Best. Maybe no country is. Sorry you seem to only see black and white, meanwhile in reality we understand that things aren't that easy.

  • @mcdrunkin Did you know Canadians travel to the United States to get medical treatment.Because they dont have the near the advances in medical science that the United States has.The United States of American is the most advanced in the world in medical treatment. We are the world wide leaders in exporting vegetables, clothes, and medical assistance to third world countries. We are the first to lend a helping hand to a countries people who are being abused and natural disasters.

  • @mcdrunkin Tell me what you would do in Canada?Canada has only an 1/8 of the population of America. There are so may laws and regulations that keep money making buisness out.Thats why the population is down and people like you cant go there.Canada is a Nature Preserve. You farm, drink, and help preserve nature. Thats why thier not making near as much money as other countries. They do make some alchohol though.I will agree on Austrailia I have been there myself. But its for the locals and the retired.

  • @mcdrunkin Yeah your right. You could move to Mexico where the government is corrupted by drug lords. How about Europe where there are riots daily because of the fall out of the market. How about Africa where children have limbs cut from thier bodies for being born into a different tribe or speaking a different dialect.Brazil, Guatemala your either rich or your not.China is communist.Muslims of the east strap bombs to eachother and kill the innocent.Biggest problem in the USA is people like you.

  • @THExxPALExxRIDER PTSD isnt only a wartime issue. And your anger is very closeminded try to think for a second, now tell me whats the first ammendment to the U.S. constitution? I ask you to try to chill out, and you tell me Im unAmerican wow. I wish I did live somewhere else sometimes. A place where people just leave each other along but people like you always have a chip on their shoulder. It's silly act like an adult.

  • @mcdrunkin This song is about people coming back from war.Its about PTSD. Its about men coming back from war after killing people all over this planet.Dont try to make a song more than what it is.Macho posturing? You are either not from America or your a coward who should leave America.
