Sorry that the last part is cut-off! Don't know why it did that. Anyway I wanted to let those of you who are thinking of starting Retin-A know that during the purge, because you will get a lot of new pimples all over your face, you might have very bad scarring, like I am experiencing now. So if your face scars very easily, like mine (i don't pick any pimples and they still leave scars..), you might not want to take the risk by going on Retin-A, because it could mess up your face with scars. And scars take a very long time to heal, so you don't wanna be stuck with unsightly spots all over your face for a long time. That's all! :)

  • I had a very terrible ance like yours. If your ance get worst when you have your periods, you should try birth controls pills. (Birth control pill or nuva ring) helped me get ride of ance. But you should not use birth control together with antiboitics because antibiotics decrease the effects of the birth control and you can get pregnant.

  • @oge82 prior to visiting the dermatologist (& before starting on retin-a & doxycycline) i had considered going on birth control, because i personally heard from 2 close friends that it was AMAZING for the skin. they swear by it!!!! and i believe them, but when i went to do further research online about birth control pills, apparantly if you use BCP for a long time and suddenly go off it, your skin will have a very bad breakout.

  • @oge82 which sounds horrifying.i think that the prob with BCP is that it screws with your hormones, which is the CAUSE of acne for many of us. which is why going off BCP causes a bad breakout. so i rationalised that if i go on BCPs now and if i does work, eventually when i'm 27 or something, when i'm married and actually want to get pregnant, i'll have to go off BCP and my skin will go mad. so, i'd rather not!! thanks for your advice though!! :D i rly appreciate it!!!!!!

  • You're such an amazing person! You have an awesome personality :) I myself am suffering from acne and I'm getting really depressed. I actually avoid any social situation because I'm so ashamed of my skin. But you're really making me look at the glass half full.. you have such a positive outlook. :)

  • @lilsis wow thank you so much that is such a compliment!!! please don't be depressed over your acne, yes there is SO MUCH MORE TO LIFE than just spots on your face!!!! :) plus, acne also helps you sieve out the true friends from the phony ones!

  • I agree with birth control pill when we take it just 1 month it work and clear all quickly then you not have to must treat your face but your face still smooth but for take long time it will effect sure so I have to must stop now after pass take about for long time and now I got spot lots but have to change other way treat my face and I think retin A ok and it should be safe than birth control pill.
