@CaliforniaArchitect You are so right, parents are the best teachers for their preschoolers. Instead of being taken from hardworking people, the ridiculous amount of money eaten up by layers of government bureaucracy could be used by individual families to train up their children they way they want to. Kids are far more confident to go to regular school if they are detached from their parents too early.

I can't understand why people are so helpless when it comes to education. Now we're supposed to pay MORE in taxes to expand an already failing public school system. My wife and I taught our kids to read before they were 3.
If we get the government out of the prek-12 business, we can slash income and property taxes for everybody! That would allow more parents to home-school or to send their kids to private schools.
