i liked it to be honest.
and I agree that it introduces characters that would have been lost to a younger age.
and i like the political subtext
and Johnny Depp was great it in it.
..but seriously lol, i thought it wasn't have bad, especially with the way comic book adaptations are going. some parts were a little cheese, but one person's cheese is another kids wide-eyed 'whooooaahhh' moment. :)

batman isn't a psychopath. His methods may be extreme, but he fights psychopaths.

Yes, I agree with that. 'Batman as a psychopath' probably comes from Frank Miller's interpretation. To me, Bruce Wayne's mission is to protect innocent people from what happened to him as a child, not to get revenge against criminals.
