Partisan politics has always created a lot of drama in the United States and many people say it's also prevented a lot of things from being accomplished in Washington. So now more than ever young Americans are becoming disillusioned by the two party system in this country and saying it's time for some real change when it comes to politics. One of the movements that's picked up quite a following is the Libertarian Party.

  • @SacredSocietyAP Libertarians and others can wish all they want that human nature will change, but they're missing that it's a mathematical, systemic problem of the state plurality voting systems, and nothing will change before that is.

  • This crap has been brought up in every election for a hundred years. It's basically a news story with no movement.

  • A duopoly system is bad for government go figure....

  • what is the point of the democrats and republicans? why have two parties in one country? what sense does that make? why fight ppl who live in the same continent as yourself? why isnt there just one party that represents us as a whole? it doesnt make sense to have two parties represent one continent...the united states...just my thoughts

  • Give most humans half a brain and they will vote themselves into a two-party state that is steadily evolving toward a closed society. Give a few among them a full brain and allow them to speak out and those with half a brain will dismiss the few as being radical contrarians who have lost touch with reality.

  • Too many people claim libertarianism as a title. I am thinking currently that a real change would have to occur from the ground up, so perhaps Russel Means would be better, since the worst living conditions in the USA are the Lakota Indian reservation. Fixing those first would be a strong start to rectifying the rest of the USA.

  • The interviewer clearly doesn't know that Paul is a republican.

  • @XLnotsofunny Well technically it is not addressed in the constitution. So political parties are legal. Only two Presidents were in office with no party affiliation, George Washington and John Tyler in his second term. The only other party that has been President was the Whig party. It's just a organized group of folks that come together to vote on certain issues collectively. What should be illegal is the two-party monopoly system we have today.

  • here we have a multi party system, whee.
