Alternate Patter:
If you are a Harry Potter fan, you may have noticed my choice of words in the tutorial. (The Chosen One) An alternative to the patter in the video could be that the Aces are Death Eaters hunting Harry Potter, or if you dont like the way that ends, then you could do something with the number seven think to the last book. (It begins with the letter H.) If you saw the movie Harry Potter 6 then maybe youll remember Tom Riddle (Voldemort) asking Professor Slughorn about it. Still dont know? (Its Horcruxes.) If you chose to do this, then I would recommend changing the name of the trick to "The Chosen One." Or something along those lines.
Anyway, this is my mathematical card trick for Mismags 6th contest. I have grown fond of this effect and am proud to share it with you. The tutorial rushes through things because of the time limit set, so pause if you have to or you can read this:
Set-Up
The two aces are placed on TOP of any two SEPARATE piles. NOT THE SAME PILE. Any two separate piles. FACE-UP.
The chosen card is placed face-down on top of any pile WITHOUT an ace.
Place one pile with an ace on top of the pile with the chosen card. Place the other pile with an ace below the pile with the chosen card.
Place two piles on top of the merged 3 packets, and place the final two packets below the now merged 5 packets.
The result: 14 cards, then the first ACE, 7 cards, then the selected card, 7 cards, then the second ACE, then 21 cards.
First Hour
Deal 3 cards face-down, 4 cards face-up (Watch the performance; youll see what I mean.)
Discard the face-up pile
The result: 9 cards, then the first ACE, 3 cards, then the selected card, 3 cards, then the second ACE, then 6 cards.
Second Hour
Deal 2 cards face-up, 3 cards face-down. (Again watch performance.)
Discard the face-up pile
The result: 4 cards, then the first ACE, 1 card, then the selected card, 1 card, then the second ACE, then 5 cards.
Third Hour
Deal 1 card face-down, 1 card face-up. (This ones kind of self explanatory)
Discard the face-up pile
The result: 4 cards, then the first ACE, 1 card, then the selected card, 1 card, then the second ACE, then 5 cards.
The result: 2 cards, then the first ACE, the selected card, then the second ACE, then 2 cards.
Fourth Hour
Deal 2 cards face-up, 3 cards face-down
Discard the face-up pile
Flip over the middle pile to finish the trick
I came up with this trick entirely myself by using a simple method. I knew that I wanted the ACES to catch the card, so I had the desired effect.
I chose a card and realized that I had 49 cards left (Seeing that I took away 3)
So then I dealt 7 piles. I decided to try putting the two aces face-up on any two separate piles and the chosen card face-down on a pile, then I stacked them up exactly as done in the performance and counted down where the cards were positioned.
Okay, so all the numbers are multiples of 7 (or the number 7.) So I figured that the cards placed face-up and face-down each round had to add up to 7 so all the cards would end up in the same pile. I decided on 3 and 4. I did face-up second and it worked perfectly.
Then I realized that I would need to change the numbers for the second round, and I went through that process, a few errors and I would go back and try again. (I think you could call my method reasoning and trial & error.)
Eventually I was performing the effect for people, and they were very pleased with its results. And so was I.
By the way, I like to think of this effect as some of the math tricks taken to the next level. A card is sandwiched in between two other cards, with the result being that it is the chosen card. Its somewhat like Mismags example but his math and a lot of the steps were vastly different. But I credit his effect because it gave me the idea that you dont need to do one card face-up, one card face-down or vise-versa every turn. You can do two cards face-up, 3 cards face-down, etc.
So I hope you enjoy this effect as much as I have. Thank you for watching, rate, comment, subscribe.

Nicely presented do you know the 21 face down. 3 columns of 7 and their card is the 14th and you use magicians choice to make them select their card
Select 2 columns. Until 1 is left with their card
Take three cards so 4 cards are left and you should know the rest
Set up
3 piles of 7 cut one that's their card on the bottom Put it on one of the remainder of the two piles and the rest of the cut pile on top
Then the last pile on top
