@eikira The video was shot using a 32GB SLC version. The 64GB MLC version will probably street right around $199. All, give a thumbs up if you like this price. I will push on this end.

@DaRealBzzz It will work in a normal miniPCIe Slot and fully bypasses SATA completely, however.... (there's always a however, most mPCIe slots existing right now are Gen1 and it appears T400 has a mPCIe that is for Wireless only. Don't know if it will support a drive in bios or as a booting option.

Additionally, you can test if your mPCIe slot is bootable or not (prior to buying one of these SSDs) by trying out a Marvell Raid card (MPX-3132), if you can boot from that, you can boot from this SSD ;)

@krOozic -- I started a thread at the ST forum for the CoreStore MV w/ graphs and whatnot -- in order to be bootable/recognizable by win7 install, I had to perform the firmware upgrade. I don't have a current linux installation, so I can't check that for you, but it is recognized correctly in BIOS (even before the firmware upgrade) on the zotac h55itx-a-e.

@MrMachupo well it's better than nothing - it seems like there is information embargo on this thing or something... and I don't want to buy this thingy completely blindly.
Would you mind testing it on your zotac?... is it bootable by BIOS( or at least can win7 make it bootable with another drive instaled), are the specification and their test here correct or close to reality(350/80 MBps sequential, and the random read speeds in this video), and what firmware do you have( newest v2037 or not)?
-
@krOozic I've got a 64GB (actually 50GB) MLC version running on a Zotac H55ITX-a-e mITX motherboard, but don't have a laptop to test it on

@SmartSirius It would be quite a long video to test reliability for 50 years :) Also nice last sentence before death( of your ssd).
screw 50y reliability - I wont be archiving any files on it that long, it doesnt have enough capacity for that.
I am looking for compatibility list for corestore mv, or at least someone testing it in their laptops. ST claimed here that it sent samples out month ago, but no reviews yet.
-
uh? Just talking about shit here! No one will ever notice that difference in performance between this corestone mp and for example, intel g2 postville!
but what you will of course notice is the reliability! how long does this shitty ssd last? one month? or two? or even one long year? man- mine will last 50 years. and that is for sure - its guaranteed! well - and when theres cheaper ssd in 5 years - i will buy a new one. and THEN you will notice the difference in performance. advance!

Any word on availability of the 128gb MLC model? I see the other three sizes for sale but need more space!
-
@gosupertalent Still not available nor even listed as a future product. No benchmarks have appeared yet. Paperlaunch? Or did someone confuse "March 2011" with "May 2011"?

Support many notebooks nowadays botting via PCI-E?
If not, is it possible to place the Windows boot manager to the notebook-hdd and boot an windows installation from the PCI-E-Slot?
-
Is it fair to say, that unless you laptop bios supports booting via a PCI-E slot. There is no way other way this device could be used as a boot drive?
these drives are being sent out for review next week. We can all expect to see REAL benchmark data from 3rd party industry experts.

Can a notebook boot from the miniPCIE-SSDs without an hard drive?
DefConDrei 1 year ago
@DefConDrei That's the whole idea! Most notebooks in the field now support mini-PCIe but only Gen 1, so slower but still faster than any HDD. New notebooks are going to take advantage of Gen 2 speed and really perform. I am looking forward to getting a PCIe version for my Media Center. I will use rotating media for all my storage but boot for this SSD, should be super QUICK. :)

So you say "Gen 2 miniPCIe" -- what exact electrical specification is this compliant with? The real PCI-SIG v1.2 or the mSATA obfuscation engine?
MrMachupo 1 year ago
@MrMachupo It's the real PCIe. Not familiar with the SIG v.12 nomenclature but will verify with Engineering and data sheet will be published shortly.

@gosupertalent Spoke with Engineering ... our product supports PCIe v2.0 and is backward compatible with PCIe v1.1a. We do not know what you mean by PCI-SIF v1.2
