Chris Brown aka "Browne" (pronounced Brownie) is an ever-evolving artist, who soaks up every sound he hears. A 24/7 melody maker, who can't sit still for a moment unless he has an instrument in his hands to work out his next composition. Influenced by such renowned musi...cians as Newton Faulkner & John Butler, his mastery of the guitar is a treat for the ears & eyes as he performs picking, strumming, tapping, percussion & singing, simultaneously to produce glorious results. Browne has created techniques all his own, which he terms "flick harmonics" and "spank harmonics" and on stage he truly shines, bringing his songs to life with his dextrous hands & soulful voice. Born & raised in Corby, Northamptonshire, Browne's songs reflect the challenges of growing up in "small town England" and each one is an emotional journey from heartache to hope, from despair to optimism. Browne is close to completing his debut album, "169", which is due for release late 2010/early 2011. Browne explains his mission statement: "I want to show people that music is a way to express what they've been through personally. See, there are a lot of people out there who think it's all over [for them]. Every day is a new step. Music is my gateway to fighting for freedom for the whole world. If I don't make it, I'll die trying." His musical potential was clear early on, gaining an A* in GCSE Music, BTEC in Music, Performing Arts & Drama and a Diploma in Music. He cut his lyric writing, composing & performing teeth with indie/alternative band "A Perfect Sin" between 2006 & 2008. In September of 2007, they won a "battle of the bands" competition, which included bands from all over North Northamptonshire. In November of that same year, Browne had surgery to his arm, badly burned in a childhood accident, and still performed a slot with the band on Market Harborough radio four days later. Proof, if needed, of his dedication to his music. Following an amicable disbanding of "A Perfect Sin" and to escape his personal circumstances, he moved to Liverpool in early 2008 where he spent time busking on the city streets. His skilled musicianship was soon recognised and he spent time playing with over 20 local bands, honing & crafting his guitar skills. Browne returned to Corby in late 2008 and in early 2009, released his EP "Big Brother Calling" (featuring 8 original tracks) and "Dice Rolls", a track later to appear on "169", through iTunes, both of which hit number 1 in their independent charts. At this time he was contacted by Triof Music Ltd, a local music production group that gives artists the opportunity to perform in front of large audiences and to develop within the industry. He signed with Triof and collaborated with Hip Hop artist Parji, performing together at the Lighthouse theatre, Kettering, and also performed solo at the "North by Northwest" festival in Blackpool, May 2009. The prolific Browne now had a catalogue of songs prepared and was ready to record his debut album. It was at this time that he met local music producer Mark Brennan and having and instant rapport, they agreed to work on the album together at Mark's White Ark Studio in Corby. Mark had this to say about Browne: "On first meeting [Chris], I could see he was a strong individual with vulnerability/humility, passion for his music, and a strong desire to change the world's point of view. Blessed with a talent for words, and guitar ability beyond his years, working with Chris on his album has made me see another side to him, beyond his stage persona". Browne's reverence for music is unmistakable, but he is also clear about the importance of the fans: "I believe that music is nothing with out people, meaning, all bands and artists are incomplete without fans! YOU are the people and YOU are the power......peace" The demo version of "Spot Lights", the first single from the album "169" achieved 10,000 plays on MySpace in the first week of posting and already has well over 90,000 plays. He has continued to play locally & in and around the Sheffield area and will be arranging a UK tour to promote "169". Also Browne already has a host of material prepared for his next album. His goals include playing on "Later...with Jules Holland" and to play the Main Stage at the Glastonbury Festival, but, true to his humble character, would like also to teach music to those in less fortunate parts of the world. "Life is music, you've got to use it, can't abuse it or you'll lose it". Chris Brown.......
