Inventing a term doesn't entail that he established the institution. There was a unified, universal, visible Apostolic Church by the 6th century. The Church of Saints Ignatius, Clement, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Cyprian, Ambrose, Chrysostom, and Jerome is there before Ps Dionysus. And even if you can somehow tunnel through and find terms or concepts that are Platonist, etc in the development before that-- its a genetic fallacy to say that questionable development = invalid.

The hierarchy of the Church, its episcopacy, universal visible institution and teaching capacity already had a firm foundation and definition by the 5th and 6th centuries. Your title here is a little misleading. It would be helpful for you to outline further how his influence negatively affected the Church.

@SetonsH4ll First, Lossky, in his Vision of God admits that Hellenism entered into the Church as early as Clement and Origen. Dionysius is the culminating figure.

Sure talk to me in ten years or so.

@SetonsH4ll The history will take me years to work through but am I in any way misrepresenting the philosophical principles of your views of authority? Plus, if hierarchy was already established before dionysius why is it said that he invented the term?
