  • THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

  • wattn kack!

  • i dont get the oint of the video if you wont say what strings your picking with ur fingers. the vibrations dont let you see it clearly at all. i was excited to learn and now after 8 minutes, i am frusterated, and still cannot play it.

  • @redclayramblers Can one definitively say that? I read her quoted saying that she used whatever was handy and got the job done. I asked Mike Seeger about this and he basically confirmed it adding that she didn't have one, set in stone, way of playing. I used those thoughts and an effort at clarity and simplicity in my very brief description in the DVD. We may never know for sure. Keep in mind that I'm using a flatpick to play my versions of her versions and no doubt straying far from the gospel.

  • Hi rbharley,

It's a good 'un, but do you really need another guitar? ;)

  • I like your Martin wanna sell it?

  • @redclayramblers . yes she did used a metal fingerpick on her index finger! are you sure she didnt go up and down with the fingerpick... thats how i play her carter scratch LOL... maybe i made my own up!!! hahaha

  • Dix, Maybelle did not strum up and down with her index finger, as you stated.

She had a metal pick (like a banjo pick) on that finger, and only used the index finger on the "up" stroke. She used the back (nail) of her middle finger for the down strokes. Just thought you may like to know.. :O)

    cheers ..

  • Thank you Dix for some new flatpicking lessons don't tell Jody or Eric lol but some new flatpicking is way over due

now to add you to my collection of great flatpicking lessons
