A little comparison between the old Wonka and the chocolate factory and the new Charlie and the chocolate factory. What I like in which of the movies.
1. The opening, I love Tim Burton's opening. Point to the 2005 version! 2. The kids. I like them more in the new, because they just seem more developed. 3. Slugworth in the old version. it just made a lot of sense to tempt the kids with something more. 4. Waiting outside the factory. I just feel more of how competetive the kids are. 5. Meeting Wonka. When Wonka comes out and does the somersault, I like that in the old one. 6. The factory. Definately the new one. When I look at the old on I just don't feel very hungry for candy and it doesn't look that amazing. Possibly depending on the limitation back then, but point goes to the new one! 7. Pure imagination. I love this song, and Gene Wilder. 8. The Choco river. It doesn't look like chocolate in the old one, it just doesn't. In the new one however... yummy! 9. Willy's random singing in the old one. 10. The boat ride. In the old version it's just wierd, and seems really out of place. In the new version, it looks like fun. 11. Inventing room. What to say? It just looks more like an inventing room in the new one. 12. I want it now. The song by Veruca in the old one. I just love it. 13. Verucas father and disappearing. I like him so much better in the new one. 14. TV-room. Except for some lines from Gene Wilder, the scene in the tv-room is much better in the new one. Oompa Loompas: I have to say, I like them in both movies. The songs are good in both, and both look like oompa loompas. 16.The ending. I like it better in the old version, this whole back story with Wonka's father is a little too much... it just feel a little unnecessary. Point to the old one. Gene Wilder/Johnny Depp: I think both of these actors really make Wonka a unique character. If I absolutely have to choose, I might go with Wilder, but I love them both so much.

  • @Pacacoca Tim Burtons 2005 version followed the book a lot more, and besides, his dark atmosphere relives the madness and adventure that was in the book, and thats why I like the new one. Besides Tim (along with Roald Dahl for that matter) didn't like the 1971 version because it followed loosely from the book and didn't like Wilders performence as Wonka and do you remember a tunnel with bugs crawling on peoples faces and chickens getting their heads cut off in the book? No u don't.

  • @crazyrayboys is there a tunnel of hell in the new one?

    NO

Is slugworth in the new one?

    NO

does wonka have a tantrum about charlie and the fizz lifting drinks in the new one?

    NO

does charlie get upset when he finds out there"s like 32% that he will get a golden ticket?

    NO!!!!

the old one is much more creepy dark and even sad at some points and him allowing Charlie's family is a part of the better happy ending

the old the original the timeless classic -nostalgia critic

  • @scotsman125 thats why i like the old wonka better because is scarier

  • @scotsman125 how is looking like a good wonka the same as being a good wonka cause depp was not a good winka

  • @coltoniscoolyall. Wrong. Depp looks like a great Wonka. Wilder's Wonka is bad!

  • @scotsman125 I also prefer this movie over all except that Depps performance was shit

  • The 2005 is better. It has a great Charlie (Freddie Highmore), a great intro and the kids. The 1971 is not that bad but it has a bad Wonka. The old Wonka is even more scarier than the 2005 ( he even scolded Charlie and Grandpa Joe). 2005 wins!

  • I thought gene is rather funny while Depp was just plain weird.

  • The old movie creeps me out a lot more.

  • I really love both of these movies. However, you can't really compare the two because they're both different. Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory is a good old-fashioned musical, wheareas Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is strange and whimsical, but also has some dark elements (in other words, Charlie is closer to the book than Wonka).
