Update 11/7/2008: This is the link I followed to make the Acid Copper II AKA (Cupric Chloride) etchant http://www.instructables.com/id/Stop-using-Ferric-Chloride-etchant!--A-better...

Etching H2O2 PWM V2.0.1 With Acid Copper II, This is my experience with the Regenerative etching acid. It has no disposal of toxic waste like each time you use up your Ferric chloride etchant.

This was the original article on how to make Acid Copper II it is much harder to make the solution, but is worth the read especially Bath Analysis. http://members.optusnet.com.au/~eseychell/PCB/etching_CuCl/index.html

    achooooooooooo

  • All Better Now!

  • That board will take less than 2 minutes in 40% to 50% Nitric acid solution with ordinary tap water. You will need only half a cup of solution! No aeration or agitation needed, just keep your eye on it and work in a well ventilated area. When done dilute the solution well and discard. I have done it 1000's of times. Ferric Chloride be dammed!!!!!

  • When done dilute the solution well and discard. exactly why would you dilute a toxic substance that contains copper which is harmful to the environment, animals and people, you just end up with more volume of toxin. Exactly where are you discarding this toxin? I bet the New Zealand EPA would like to hear about it! A regenerative Solution like Acid Copper II is not about instant Self Gratification. Is about using a etching solution the is environmentally responsible!

  • You must be doing something wrong. I etched a board 160x200mm (remove all copper - double sided) in less than 5 minutes with peroxy-sulfuric.

  • Peroxy-sulfuric Sound like a mix of Hydrogen Peroxide and Sulfuric Acid? What are the byproducts are any of them extremely dangerous and is it self sustaining after you mix the solution or do you discard the mix and start with a new batch of Peroxy-sulfuric each time?

  • BLOW YOUR NOSE BEFORE MAKING YOUR NEXT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the most annoying thing ever!

  • Might wanna fix your description

    "Copper II AKA (Cupric Chloride)"

Copper(II) aka (Cu2) is a oxide and is not a acid. Copper(II) Chloride / Cupric Chloride(CuCl2) however is. Stuff is easily made with a solution HCI(hydrochloric acid) and H202(hydrogen peroxide). The H202 will oxidize Cu to Cu2 and will desolve into the HCI to form CuCI2. And its no diffrent then FeCl3 in "regeneration", as there is only so meny Chloride ions to go around in the solution excess will just revert to Cu1 and 2

  • You know if you used hydroflouric acid you'd clear that board and your cold in no time!

  • I believe hes refuring to Peroxymonosulfuric acid (H2SO5) aka peroxysulfuric acid.
