Polio vaccinators killed in Pakistan

At least six polio vacci for government campaign to eradicate disease killed in separate attacks in Karachi and Peshawar Gunmen in Pakistan have killed six women who were working on a campaign to vaccinate children against polio. Five of the women were killed in the country's largest city, Karachi. Islamabad is in the middle of a three-day vaccination drive targeting high risk areas of the country as part of an effort to immunise millions of children under the age of five. Though the Taliban have previously criticised polio efforts in the nation, no group has taken responsibility for Tuesday's deaths. Al Jazeera's Imtiaz Tyab reports from Islamabad.

Count how many people die from small pox now days and tell me vaccines don't work. Even if one in a hundred thousand die from an allergic reaction to the vaccination, that is still a LOT less than what the disease would have killed.

They weren't told the whole truth about polio vaccine risks, and vaccine makers and health officials are still frugal with the facts when it comes to vaccine risks. Many make blanket statements saying that "vaccines are safe," when in fact such a statement simply cannot be made without misrepresenting the facts. The truth is, vaccines are not safe for everyone and they clearly do not work for everyone. And even when they do work, you oftentimes end up with more virulent and hardy viruses.
