The 2nd track of the Beach Boy's terrific album, Sunflower

I'm thinking about a-this whole world
Late at night I think about the love of this whole world
Lots of different people everywhere
And when I go anywhere I see love I see love I see love

When girls get mad at boys and go
Many times they're just putting on a show
But when they leave you wait alone

You are there like everywhere like everyone you see
Happy cause your living and your free

Now here comes another day for your love
(I'm thinking about a-this whole world)
(A-this whole world)
Love

Woo oo oo oo ooo ooo oo oo
(Woo oo oo oo ooo ooo oo oo)

Aummmmm wooo wooooo bop didit

Late at night I think about the love of this whole world
(This whole world)
Oomm dot dit it
Oomm dot dit it
Oomm dot dit it

  • "Surf's Up", "Carl and the Passions: So Tough" and the "Holland" album come very close to the creative power of "Sunflower". A few out-take tracks from the "Sunflower" sessions worth a mention here are "Falling In Love" (aka "Lady"), “Loop De Loop,” "Soulful Old Man Sunshine," "I Just Got My Pay,", “San Miguel,” “Suzie Cincinnati,” and the original versions of "Big Sur," “Till I Die," and "Back Home". Most of these other tracks wound up on various compilation "best of" sets over the years.

  • Modulation masterclass! At the end of every line..Key goes up a major 3rd, then a minor/major keychange, then up a major 4th ( when girls..) then back to the original key via a full step up (alone..).

  • one of MY favorites since first hearing it on the Warner Bros. compilation album,THE BIG BALL back in the early 70s................it actually turned me on to the Beach Boys

  • What Beatles song even comes CLOSE to this???

  • I'm thinking of the Beach Boys touring this whole world next summer. It is going to be huge. Hopefully the rest of Amercia will finalize realize what dedicated Beach Boys fans already know; that the Beach Boys are the greatest band ever to share their talent with the world.

  • Yeah it's a wired phenomenon that happens in America where we get tired of something that isn't even stagnant for no reason. We do it to veteran athletes before they are on the downhill, too. From what I can gather people didn't even listen to this record and find out if they liked it, they just didn't give it a chance.

  • "It's really sad this album was such a commercial flop... no reason for this LP to not do better than #126 on the charts." -- peterp21

I agree with your sentiment! I'm struggling to recall--someone please help--but there's an interview somewhere on video: a close friend of the BB who was a Pgm Dir at a major Eastcoast radio station (Philly?) would not program anything from this album--he thought the public was burned out on the BB (2 much great stuff for 2 many years). It sucked 2 b the BB!

  • @burlingtonbill1 BETCHA YOU'D BE RIGHT :-)
