Finally, we get to hear an RTS with a Detroit Diesel S50 engine hit the highway!!!! This is Fairfax Connector Bus #7844 on Route 951. The bus has an Allison VR-731 ATEC transmission

  • its the transmission that makes that whalling noise, am i right? because out here @ omnitrans (san bernardino) our former 2600 series had the same set up

  • Yes it is. The VR-731 does make a whailing sound. By the way, is OmniTrans still operating #2696?

  • I had no idea there were bus nerds until I came across this vid.

  • An RTS wit a Series 50 sounds nothin like an RTS wit a 6V92.....except the transmission whine. But you still get that with the M-11/ VR-731 powered RTS's.
