Outstanding! Great picking and singing. Just got my hands on a nice old Gibson tenor -- I'm going to be using your videos to get started. Thanks for posting this!

My grandparents were friends of the Delmores back in Alabama, I have heard parts of this song sung by them but never really knew it was Browns Ferry Blues.
Thanks!

Peter Paul & Mary sang "Old Stewball was a race horse, and I wish he were mine, he never drank water, he only drank wine", if that's the one you mean.

Where would one pick up a tenor guitar Lew?

I would try ebay. The best tenor guitars are either Martins or Gibsons.

How do you have it tuned?

This is a Martin tenor guitar. (4 strings) I am using nylon (black) strings. I took a set of 6 nylon guitar stings and I used the middle 4 strings from the set. In other words, I dropped the high E and the low E strings and kept the ADGB strings. I put these 4 strings on the guitar and tuned them as follows... CFAD which is one step lower than the standard guitar tuning of DGBE. I hope this makes sense...

Originally a Delmore Brothers Tune. Good Job.

Yes, the Delmore Brothers... you may have noticed that the chorus was not in the original. I wrote the chorus myself... "People cross the river on the ferry boat ride, they bring their stories from far and wide. Lord, lord, I got those Brown's Ferry blues. They tell tall tales and sad ones too, some are lies and some are true."
