Interveiw with Keith Richards http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Richards
On 27 February 1977 Richards was charged with "possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking" -- an offence that under the Criminal Code of Canada can result in prison sentences of seven years to life. His passport was confiscated and Richards and his family remained in Toronto until 1 April, when Richards was allowed to enter the United States on a medical visa for treatment for heroin addiction. The charge against him was later reduced to "simple possession of heroin".

For the next two years, Richards lived under threat of criminal sanction. Throughout this period he remained active with The Rolling Stones, recording their biggest-selling studio album, Some Girls, and touring North America. Richards was tried in October 1978, pleading guilty to possession of heroin. He was given a suspended sentence and put on probation for one year, with orders to continue treatment for heroin addiction and to perform a benefit concert on behalf of the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Although the prosecution had filed an appeal of the sentence, Richards performed two CNIB benefit concerts at Oshawa Civic Auditorium on 22 April 1979; both shows featured The Rolling Stones and The New Barbarians. In September 1979 the Ontario Court of Appeal upheld the original sentence.[

  • I love keith..he looks like a teddy bear:)

  • HILARIOUS...he is saying his rock star life of adolescent wiffs can't be fairly jurored unless judged by other rock/blues artists. First off- HE HAS NO PEERS. He is the real deal, the first in a long mold of rebel guitarists. But his humor is divine. That's his trick. English, well spoken and true as a Southern Gentleman. The sewer man..."no one knows what it's like down here"..We are lofa'so here in California. Who cares what his drugs of choice are...just keep this man talking..entertain us.

  • @baby2brian No. Get your fact straight, dipshit.

  • This man is a GeNiUs

  • 1.19 Mick Jagger's gone gay. What's he wearing? Haha !

  • @mulhane89 yeah the fact that hes still talking shows just how strong his mind is lol

  • he makes a valid point here. nobody knows what it's like to be a rock and roll star, unless, as Keith says. he had a jury of his peers ie. Berry, Clapton etc. and it is well known that a blind girl was a Character witness for Keith. she used to follow the Stones to all their concerts and when Keith found out about her he arranged a limo to take her home safely after each concert. as he said, anything could have happened to her out there. good heart Keith.

  • @TheNaturalust

    well said.

  • Sorry ODDISCOO and M4000D, just got the names mixed up. I know on the advice of Brian Epstein that it was Pete Best that was kicked out and replaced by Ringo. and when the Beatles did finally split up,hardly anyone of them could talk to each other, they only came together when George died.

  • @baby2brian the beatles kicked out their drummer pete best and replaced him with ringo stu sutcliffe was the bassist who died in 1962

  • @M4000D Youdon't know what your talking about with Beatles never doing what the Stones did with Brian Jones. they kicked out Stu Sitcliff and replaced him with Ringo(Richard Starkey) so get your facts straight asshole

  • @tennessee888 He is clear, articulate and insightful. He is not 'colossally mashed.' You should read his book man....

  • STABLESHADOW Lennon and MCcartney didnt hate each other. Yeah they fell out towards the end of the Beatles, and slated each other, but they made up before Johns death. They loved each other really.

The stones never hated each other, apart from a year or so before brians death they hated him. but mick and keef do have a love hate relationship.Read keefs book and he tells ya.

  • Great post @The Guitargreats1, thanks for this!

  • He is colossally mashed in this interview

  • @pengo101 He'd been off heroin for about 4 years at the time of this video

  • What a lovely, genuine, sincere guy. Notice you never see this kind of sincerity from our scumbag politicians.

  • @M4000D LOL! You don't know what you're talking about. Strangely enough, I just heard an old interview with Paul McCartney today bashing John Lennon for bashing Wings, whose music Lennon referred to as MUZAK. Bottom line is this: The Beatles died with the 1960s. The Stones are still rocking. Obviously, the Beatles problems were worse for the Beatles, than the Stones problems have been for the Stones.

  • @M4000D Wrong. John Lennon and Paul McCartney couldn't stand each other. Mick and Keith have a very fraternal bond, and like brothers, they squabble. The Beatles loved each other so much that they broke up in 1970. Meanwhile the Stones are still touring 60 years on.

  • @GabbyGraffiti he does at 4:35

  • he is on another planet, just hit the needle.

  • @KellyGreen5555 i dont know exactly but early 80's

  • Keith Richards is truly lovely.

  • @BouncingPurpleCows Paint it Black :D

  • He is so young and beautiful here.
