When you were trying to say: 5:45, wu3 dian3 san1 ke4. You actually said wu2 yan3 san1 ke4. Ni3 jin1 tian1 hen3 mang2, but you said Ni3 jin1 tian4 hen2 mang2. It is very common that English speakers tend to end their statement with a tone going down, which is totally different in Chinese, we do not use a rising tone to express a question or falling tone to express a statement(in mandarin only). Tones depend on the characters themselves, with very few exceptions.
