This shows how a copper enclosure can slow the free-fall speed of a magnet.
As the magnet moves past any particular point of the pipe there is a small electric field set up which creates inertial drag & consequentially it has a braking effect. There are 12 neodymium magnets ½ in. diameter by 1/8 in. thick.
The copper tube is 25 ½ in. long by ½ in. inside diameter (plumbing specs of course). The slots start at 8 ½ in. from the top. They are 1 in. long with 1 in. space between each slot & there are 6 slots. These are for visual purposes only. Then there is 6 in. of copper pipe at the end. These specifications serve
no purpose other than to answer questions before they arise. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is the down fall of magnet motors trying to have some sort of electrical component in them to create rotation. Thank you for watching.

  • hold on... "controlled" means YOU did something to CONTROL the reaction... not 'discovered'(which you did)...therefore there is no control over this reaction... you are reacting magnetic flux with non-conductive material...this is merely a demonstration... neat idea on the sloting of tubing, though.
