Episode 6 of the Channel Five series Kings & Queens, which looks at the life and reign of Henry VIII of England

The series looks at key monarchs in the history of England and gives some simplified facts about their reigns. This is a good series for those who have little prior knowledge of English history.

me neither... but that's because I'm a man...

  • @RASSISTEN2012 You mean a bulldog-baby face like Rooney? ^^

  • @RASSISTEN2012

What is an "authentic British" and how could he/she do a better job than this man?

  • The most overrated king in European history.

  • it is interesting that they show Henry, at the time of his marriage, as an overweight man, although back then he was tall, slim and very handsome. It is much later that he became obese.

  • @serioushamburger me too :-))

  • Invasion of foreign nation and war it's self represented as a sporting contest and as something of rightful undertaking.Smells like today,hm?

  • @gurumagoo You could also blame Showtime's Glamourization of him. Maybe if 10-20 years down the road, they do a movie or show glamourizing Hitler and making him hot, it might happen.

  • @Serg223 Yes, especially when supposedly he wasn't always that big. Henry VIII as a youthful young adult was apparently very athletic and only became fat and lazy after a major jousting accident ruined his abilities.

  • @ rockinamber18 you couldnt just adopt a heir to the throne. Maybe you should look into the life and times of Henry 8th and his wives. The reformation and politics of the time.
