Here is a 1947 recording of Jascha Heifetz playing his transcription of Francis Poulenc's "Presto". Emanuel Bay is at the piano. (add &fmt=18 for better resolution)

    Is this originally for piano alone?

  • Yes, this piece was originally written by Poulenc for solo piano. Although, this piece (and "Mediterranean") is part of a multiple record set from 1946 of Heifetz's transcriptions of mostly piano pieces for violin with piano accompaniment.
