SHUT UP AND ENJOY THE MOVIE

I can't believe Faulkner would have approved any such melodramatic Hollywood junk as this movie as representing one of his works.
-
this is so typical.. adapting such a complex novel into movie romance , but i like it haha
-
Quentin: Wot will u spend it on?
Jason: On u...swoon

@pegcage i agree with you , but i dont see how everyone cant see hes inlove with her, i dont think he meant to fall inlove with her, he just wanted her to survive her family and scandelous birth, but like her, no one really loves him either, they just use him to take care of them.

@ccrich100 I agree I don't think he hates them if he did he would wash his hands of the whole bunch. I feel sorry for Quinten , and I feel sorry for Jason, but I feel the sorriest for the poor housekeeper!!! She has to deal with them all. If the watcher pays attention, Jason is not affectionate with Quinten , I do think he 's inlove with her but he just wanted her to be better then the rest of her family.

William Faulkner might have been very talented but the movie is much better, thank you for posting it, i just wish i could buy it.

I tried to read the book and I just couldn't follow the story line. I am hoping the movie is better.

Thank YOU soooooooo much for uploading this movie! I wanted to watch it so badly and then found you!! thanks again!!
so what happens in the book? He is not really her blood related uncle, is that how it is in the book too? You rather get the idea that they are attracted to each other here.

In the book, Jason is indeed the blood relative (uncle) of Miss Quentin, brother of Quentin, Benjy, and Caddie. In the book, they do not kiss, and Miss Quentin is successful in running away with the carnival boy--Jason chases after them but does not ultimately find them. They are also successful with stealing Jason's (partly Miss Quentin's) money. That's the conclusion of the section from which the film is based. There are three other sections of the book, though.

It's pretty much that he just hates everyone. It's not really her in particular--he hates his mother, he hates Dilsey, he hates Benjy, he hates Caddy, etc.
Personally I think he's bitter because he feels that he sort of got the short end of the stick in his family--Quentin was the oldest and smartest and got to go to Harvard; Caddy was the only girl and got married young; Benjy is the youngest and is also retarded. Stick Jason in there as the second youngest and he sort of becomes a Jan Brady.
