  • Wow what memories! I was station @George

Nov 67 - May 69 prior to going to Tan Son Nhut. Was with Det 12 SAR. Search n Rescue. On end of flight line hangar with HH-43 helicopters. We rescued the pilots who F-up and hit the mountains when practing there gunnery targets prior going to NAM. Sorry they had to close it. Had some great times!

  • @znuto Heck yeah .. We did that too LOL !

  • I now work at old George now SCLA Victorville at pacific aerospace resources & technologies on B747 we still use some of the old trucks and hangers from the AFB.

  • I thing the ground guide realized at the last second not to walk directly behind the exhaust! He would have burnt his ass really well!

  • I was at George in the late 60's. I flew in the f4's as a tow reel operator towing targets. I miss it!

  • Stationed there 1977-1978. White Section. 7th female crew chief. Crewed 67-761. Really, really glad there were no cell phone videos from back then :). Good times

  • My god i loved that place so much! I miss it so much! I can remember everything about that base. I remember the first house on base we lived in. 13 Wyomi street. You what i miss so much on that base? I remember my Dad would take me to the end of the flight line and watch the F-4's take off. He was in the Air Force for 22.5 years and spent 8 years on that base. I was born in 1978. I would give anything to be with my Dad again on that base...and I mean anything!

  • Why did you have to post this video! I was born and grew up on that base. You have brought tear to my eyes!. I miss Dad!

  • @Kaledrums HEY YOU WERE, MY MOM AND DAD MET HERE around this time AND I WAS BORN IN 88 ON THIS VERY SITE i am a MILITARY BRAT!!!

  • Stationed at George from 87 to 90, in the 561st "Yellow" section, where the motto was 5+6+1 = 12 hour shifts. My nickname was "Coleman Jones", as I always wanted to drive a coleman aircraft tug around untill I buried one in a ditch one day. I also worked at the NCO club while under-age and rank (i did not drink). A lot of good memories there, and I've been back recently on my way to Edwards...some of the buildings are getting really run down, but a lot of history remains.

  • I was there in the 20AMU(silver section) from 86-90. Great memories! Thanks for sharing.

  • Was stattioned @ George from '71 to '74. Having grown up in land-locked L.A. , I LOVED the beauty of the surrounding desert. Back in '71, there were no housing tracts, malls, gangs or even a McDonalds in Victorville (until '73). I loved George AFB-was assigned to the Weather squadron, where I worked in the weather shack right by Runway 16--watched tons of F-4s take off and land. . Got orders for Da Nang in late '71--but after a year of postponements, the orders were cancelled.

  • HEY znuto thanks a ton for the old GAFB film !!!! I was there 81-84 21st AMU pneudraulics. Seeing this brings back a flood of good / bad memories ! LOL ! Being undermanned , working 16 hr shifts on broke F4-E's. So many IFE's for utility failures ! Pigs on the wing ! Hog out stenciled under panels by the paint barn. Crammed in a wheel well with Cheryl Brown and her big boobies !! Goin to the Desert Fox Hesperia getting drunk ! FOD walks ! Tail number 6 triple criple. Asian girls at the NCO club

  • my dad was stationed at GAFB from 80 to about 88 i believe it was. My sister was born there too. I remember going to GAFB elementary School And then shepherd elementary for JR Ist and my teachers name oddly enough was Mrs. Shepherd. I remember the youth an teen center by jack and jill pre school on base. and we lived on carolina and Virginia. I really miss George I wish I had the money to buy it and convert it into a working museum

  • I was Yellow Section-561st Tac. Ftr.Sqdn. :Comm-Nav shop from 1986-91. Did the deployment to Egypt twice , West Germany (LOL) twice and then the Storm. I guess once you walk the path of a warrior/soldier it never really leaves you even though you leave it. ANd yes , the bowling allies snack bar was freaki'n awesome!! We got BK on base around 88, but I stayed true to the Alley grill. Nothing better than Cheesbrgr's & Fried zucchini. MMMmmmmmm.

  • I havent been back since I left in 80
