the song is an odd and very accurate commentary because it probably is the nations most beloved hockey team and yet Barilko's last years were some of the last hurrah's, they won 3 more in the 60's and have been irrelevant since. Some make the argument that the league got bigger and they had terrible ownership, but still it doesn't really compute that the biggest city in Canada with deep pockets hasn't been able to procure another Stanley Cup in 44 years or whether they will in fact win another.

my old man had a heart attack and died in a drive in work facility near Barilko's crash, my son was born in Toronto and at the time of his birth "50 Mission Cap" began to play, just as he came out ceasarean and I have appeared on the 75 th anniversary video, thats cool eh?
