This is a song co-written by my friend, mentor and bandmate (Starlings,TN). It features Dave on Tennessee music box and Stephen Seifert (dulcimer) with a guest appearance by Cyndi Lauper (vocals) who was also one of Davids' students.
Schnaufer recorded with The Judds, Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Kathy Mattea,Mark Knopfler, Emmylou Harris, Chet Atkins and many others on dulcimer, a gentle stringed instrument used in Appalachia since the 1800s, derived from zithers brought into North America by German immigrants in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Along with Charley Pride, Bill Monroe and Norman Blake, Schnaufer was one of four musicians invited to play the 25th wedding anniversary of June and Johnny Cash.

What a lovely tribute! I had the pleasure of meeting David several times, the first time when he was judging the dulcimer contest at Bob Evan's Farm, around 1987. He was a rare talent, a giving soul, and a true gentleman. I'm sorry he died, but I'm glad he lived.
