As part of the River Carron Restoration Project a sample of wild salmon are caught each year from the river and these are stripped of eggs which are reared for release into the river at the egg, fry and parr stages. Thousands of eggs are produced by one adult female (hen) fish in a season, a precious resource for the project. These are carefully nutured to the release stage to ensure the next generation of salmon returning to the river.
