The Detroit Red Wings have the first place St. Louis Blues in town, and hoped to take first place away from St. Louis. The Red Wings were playing well, with no regulation losses in their last 9 games (7-0-2). Detroit up 2-1 in the 3rd period at Joe Louis Arena, center Steve Yzerman is foiled by goalie Brent Johnson on a 2 on 1 with Igor Larianov, but persistence pays off. He battles for the rebound in the corner, gets by another St. Louis player, then walks in alone, scoring "top shelf" at 10:06, and the Red Wings take first place with a 4-2 win. The assists went to Igor Larionov and Nick Lidstrom. Yzerman became the 6th National Hockey League player with 1600 career points. The call is from ESPN's Gary Thorne. For other sports clips, you can also look at the playlists (such as the Detroit Red Wings playlist) on my channel or the channel itself for the videos. This was from ESPN.com as an internet download, fair quality, for entertainment purposes only. I am not having/will not have any financial gain from this.
