Washington Fly Tyer, Scott (Scotty) Howell, Our Dearly Missed Friend and one of the Most Prolific and Talented fly tyers to Ever Grace this Slide Show with his flies, Scotty Passed away January 26, 2008, after a Courageous Battle with Cancer. If you have never seen his flies before, you did not know what you were missing. He had an Extraordinary Talent for Creating Flies that are almost perfect, remarkably colorful and detailed. They are beautiful flies to look at, but still so fishable. Please browse through Scotty's flies while remembering him for his talent and creativity.

  • i knew Scotty for a number of years, beginning very early last decade, on a couple different websites and by way of personal emails we sent back and forth. i never had the chance to meet him in person, but i know he was a very rare PRINCE of a human being. And the cat COULD TYE! ;>)

  • This was quite a tribute; I've never met the man, but am instantly connected through the flies, the mojo they ooze, and the pursuit of fish that attack sometimes. God rest his soul, and good karma to you, his pals, who were thoughtful enough to share this.

    Cheers from sub-zero Michigan waters,

    Kenny

  • Flowers of the Forest.

  • As Ken said, a very talented tier. I wish I would have been able to have met him. As for the song, I have it in the back of my mind. If I find it, ken, I'll PM you on Flybc. Tim...a toast to all those that are casting perfect loops on the other side.

  • So sad. I wish I could have met Mr.Howell.

His skill, sense of proportion (for me) emotes the same feeling of amazement, and respect, that the tiers of the day must have felt, after seeing the flies of the late Syd Glasso.

Mr. Howell:don't be breaking any threads on the other side..keep the heads small and tight. RIP.

    Ken Driedger Smithers, BC.

An aside: Mr. RoeDeer: please tell the name of the tune the pipes and drums are playing. Perfect melody for the vid. kd.
