i translated celine dion's song S'il suffisait d'amer from french to english as good as i could...there might be some mistakes, i dunno, but i tried.

  • when she says "Je décline son corps" she wants to say that she looks all over his body (in greatest detail) - I hope I'm clear ;)

  • @StanDaymond Yeah I notice in most cases these translations translate word for word vs thought for thought which is what a true translation should be. Take for instance 0:14, I doubt she means that he's living somewhere in her decorations around the house, lol.

    I would say however that this is a better translation than the non-human translations you find at websites.

  • I noticed most English translations have a serious problem when translating the first sentence:

    "je décline son corps" is tranlated as : "I decline his body"

    which doesn't make sense based on the context. I can say it even though I have only limited knowledge of French. So in that case "I imagine his body" is making much more sense. I have also seen other translation: "I discover his body".

My 1st language is French and even I have some trouble figuring out the meaning of some lyrics as they are poetic and not really used in everyday life. Hope this helps.
