  • Okay now you've got one of my favorite platformers on the Genesis/Megadrive. Love the sequel too. The graphics are a notch up to most other games on the console. Lovely games!

  • @markvergeer

    Thank God.

With your Bugs Bunny post, I thought I'd gone clinically insane.

But, apparently the universe has righted itself. :D

This game rocks and I can totally understand how you'd dig this one a lot.

  • i thought you were going to say it was sega's answer to DK country in terms of graphics etc..but the megaman thing makes alot of sense!

I really like this game and am looking for part 2 (although it is meant to be very similar)

  • @cyanidebreathmintz

I have a number of games coming that I got when I still had a job and got my first Paycheck.

So you can look forward to some good stuff to come. Most notably VM2.

And DK Country would almost be a good comparison to this game as well, as nothing else on any other 16 bit system can touch it.

Boy oh boy! My mind is drawing a blank! But hey that's exactly why SEGA's popularity started to peter out.

  • @segagenesis1989

Remember those very weird VERY 90's ads at the end of the Genesis run. The days of the Sega CD and 32 X with crazy cuts and edits and lots of yelling...

Yeah all the Saturn commercials were like that. :)

  • @pocketmego

Yeah, I have to agree. SEGA just did not capture the hearts and minds of the average kid. The SEGA Saturn era was simply a blur to me that I don't recall not a single commercial. It was forgettable: a sure sign that the console would fail before it could even get itself to it's feet!

  • One of my favorite games of all time. Vectorman ftw!

  • @segagenesis1989

The thing is he does have a cool personality. He has little speech clipswhen he does certain things and he does makes these humorous and funny poses as the game progresses.

but, yeah, they dropped the ball by not MARKETING that.

They didn't tell you enough about the concept or character, they focused on the cool-factor, but that is a big problem with ALL of Sega's late 90's marketing.

Remember, those weird Sega Saturn ads in the west?

  • I beleive that SEGA dropped the ball in terms of marketing this game properly. I see that you make a comparison between Vectorman and Mega Man. The difference in my opinion is that gamers could relate to Mega Man at a emotional level whereas Vectorman was simply a very cool robot. SEGA did not give Vectorman any kind of personality. As a result Vectorman's popularity was stifled. the ads at the time featured cool gameplay and the very novel sprite design. What about the character's personality?

  • @cyanidebreathmintz I know its not a terrible game but i just don't seemed drawn to it like other games but i will have a copy of it sometime down the line.
