Lehigh County 9-1-1 dispatched Western Salisbury 31 & Eastern Salisbury Engine 2012 to 3058 Sussex Rd. in the eastern part of the township for a house fire at 10:23 in the morning. With multiple calls being received and Chief 31 reporting a header from across the city of Allentown, he transmitted a 2nd Alarm, however, with police reports coming in for a fully involved house he immediately transmitted the 3rd alarm.

Crews encountered heavy fire in a shed and garage that was attached to a single family dwelling. Crews stretched off with a large handline. They also stretched three 1.75" handlines and had two supply lines feeding two engines. Crews stopped the fire from getting into the main residence, however, the main dwelling sustained heavy smoke damage. In all, 7 engines, 1 truck and a rescue were in service. The fire was put under control at 11:17.

Companies in service at the scene:

Western Salisbury: Engines 3111, 3112, truck 3131
Eastern Salisbury: Engines 2012, 2011, rescue 2041
Emmaus: Engine Co. 712
Wescosville: Engine 30
Alburtis: Engine Co. 112 (R.I.T.)

  • Do you really have nothing better to do than sit back and moan that things weren't done your way? The way Western does it works, and there's still a house there thanks to them.

  • 27 would only get one person for 20 pieces.

  • @fireman7003 the house is still standing and fully repaired, im looking at it right now, 31 made a hell of a save

  • @ehirner engine 11 from allentown would have been the closest physcially, 711 was onscense for suppresion, not for RIT, 1 and 31 have a system set up

  • All of 31's trucks carry RIT equipment, and Alburtis is usually on scene within 15 minutes of dispatch. Cry about it.

  • Where do you get your info from? First of all most everyone uses Station 1 for RIT. PLUS Sta. 7 was on the second alarm, so why would you call them for the fire and the RIT? Maybe you should think before you post next time since you dont make sense. Oh and if i remember correctly the house is still standing, which is probably more than I can say for the houses in your district.

  • what also makes no sence in the fact that sta 7 is RIT for say 80% of the southern end of lehigh (except 31) and were there for an engine only when they have there rit truck at station with a full crew on standby, and a responce time of about 7 min Dont make much sence to me. But thats the way western does it. Backasswards

  • I like the white helmet wearing a vest under the air pack looking in the window!! what are you looking for or are you trying to get your face burned.

  • no not any company can do RIT. you need to be properly trained first!!
