Bentonville Battlefield was the site of the largest Civil War battle fought in North Carolina, as General Joseph Johnston tried to stop General Sherman's troops as they marched through the Carolinas. Video footage is from the Bentonville Battlefield Historic Site which has a museum, the Harper House, a Confederate cemetery and Union Earthworks. Bentonville is located near Four Oaks, NC, I-95, Exit 90.

  • The Battle of Bentonville wasn't one sided.

Joe Johnston sent almost an entire Corps of Sherman's Army into flight. Only Slocum keeping his head saved Sherman's force from an embarrasing defeat.

Granted, the arrival of the bulk of Sherman's force did swing the battle totally to the Federals favor but they failed to use their superiority to drive Johnston from the field.

Johnston withdrew after Sherman threatened to outflank him but was not defeated and surrendered his army undefeated.

  • I think I see someone I know in the very beginning of this video!! ;)

  • this lady is right, wierd things do happen there-don't they? LMAO!!! ;0)

  • relic hunters are nothing more than grave robbers. No different than the tomb robbers of egypt. The sole exception is if you own the land you hunt on.

  • I hate relic hunters.
