A vegetarian doesn't eat meat or fish...so technically Mathfails would be a part-time vegetarian. Someone who now and then still eats meat. However, I am not very keen on definitions and such...

  • I was vegan for the ethical reasons. Of recent, I've been forced to eat meat in the house I reside in. I hate it, and when I have the choice not to eat meat, I will take it. Hopefully, that choice is coming soon. I still think its ok to be 96% veggie rather than less though.

  • you've been forced to eat meat? how did they do that? forcefeed it to you? feel bad for you though. is it because they don't respect your choices?

hope everything turns out ok for you...

  • You're absolutely right. For someone who was greatly annoyed by that TAA vid, I'm way past due going full time veggie and ridding myself of the 5% meat I still tend to consume. Those gruesome images need to follow me 24/7.

  • You can do it. Just clean out whatever meat and fish you still have left in your house and don't buy any new stuff...In a few days time you hardly even notice it anymore. Just try to remember what happened to this animal when you see meat in the store. This helps to resist any urges and fight the 'addiction'. I haven't eaten any meat or fish for over half a decade now. I don't even notice it anymore.

Yeah, I'm still annoyed by that vid of TAA and his trolls that made all those comments/videos

  • well i never said you cant protect 'lesser' complexity...

why else would i say its better to eat a cow then a carrot? (that one seems easy)

but what about a fish to a bird?

    a cow to a chicken?

so the cut off point is actually a crucial obstacle that needs to be approached with data and research to finally make the "cut off".

  • we don't have to chose between a bird or a cow: we can eat the carrot...

it would be worse to kill a cow then a chicken, but eating the chicken would still be wrong.

It would be less worse to kill the fish, then to kill the chicken, but still not ok. The line would in the most of cases be verterbrates versus inverterbrates (with some exceptions such as an octopus).

  • Thanks oneandonly...., it's been awhile. When I was a teenager and vegetarian for the first time, when I went back to meat I came up with all these excuses: "everything dies, everyone does it, it's easier to just give in and eat meat, maybe they came from a nice farm, maybe they really do knock them out before slaughter, maybe I need meat, and blah, blah, blah." I'm just glad that over the years I've gained the knowledge & strength to follow my conscience and remain vegan for life.

  • I've just purchased 'the china study' everyone should read it. It has indesputable evidance that meat, dairy, eggs, fish etc.. in a diet will increase the risk of cancer and other serious diseases. When you throw that at most Pro-Meat heads they tend to look at their own bloated bodies and have a small moment of awakening.

  • The thing is I never buy meat for a planed meal I intend to have later. I always buy it as on the fly fast food at 3:00 am or something, when I'm up and starved and everything else is closed. I gotta do the organised shopping thing during the day. I'm not that far off from fully giving it up, considering I was raised on meat and gave much of it up already. Good video.

  • Yeah, I was talking about some of these issues with my nephew and his girlfriend last weekend and I brought up the example of the octopus. It's amazing how intelligent they are.
