You wont see this every day, A replacement engine being lifted into one of the few remaining locos of its type. The background is Buckley Wells on the East Lancashire Railway and shows a very busy day with the Duke of Gloucester steam loco during a boiler test as the work proceeds on the Deltic, Royal Scots Grey.

  • Quite possibly the most riveting video experience of my life. I was expecting Alexei Sayle, but was pleased to get this.

  • Well my works never been described as 'RIVETING' before but it does knock Alexei Sayle into a cocked hat, LoL.

    Hugh.

  • ROFL at BabydelticProd ^_^

Good to see RSG has a new motor now though :D Let's hope she doesn't put a leg out of bed with this one.

  • And so say all of us!!!!!!!.

    Hugh

  • As I understand it the kettle was there on stand by in case the new engine didnt start so they could fake a video by standing the kettle behind the deltic whilst Roger Radcliffe made Deltic noises.

  • Now thats convoluted sarcasm, LoL.

Careful you dont cut yourself.I might set Andy on you. Hugh.

  • they must be real good loco,s .

  • Impressive Engine - the only time I saw a Deltic engine life was 1982 in York. Last year I had a view on the machinerie of the Oasis of the Seas in Finnland. Big but not so awe-inspiring. Thanks for this Video!

  • Beautiful! What was the reason why they got a bad reputation, what happened to them?

  • This will have to happen again too as 22 needs another replacement engine...

  • Awesome video.

  • one of my favourite locomotives is rusting in that yard, Shaw Savil, Merchant navy class, no 35009. I've been there and it is depressing, yet amazing, to see all those steam engines dying together. It has inspired me to make many works of art about the lancashire equivalent to Barry
