"Given the Penal Laws and the other devilish things Queen Elizabeth I did to the Irish, I find it very satisfying in a subversive sort of way to play as many Irish tunes as possible!" I knew I was drawn to you for more reasons than simply your wonderful musical gifts! LOL!!

Wonderful! What is the name of that tune? Do you play specifically rennaissance music at these fairs, or do you throw in whatever Celtic tunes strike your fancy too?

The first tune excerpt is "Fanny Poer" and the second tune is "Merrily Kiss the Quaker." Since the fair goes all day, there's the boredom factor that kicks in if we only play Renaissance music; therefore, we throw in all the Celtic material we can think of to supplement it. Given the Penal Laws and the other devilish things Queen Elizabeth I did to the Irish, I find it very satisfying in a subversive sort of way to play as many Irish tunes as possible!
